BRIEF HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF M.C.F.B
First
Founded with (14) blind Christians on 4th;
August, 1975, and was thus named the Myanmar
Christian Fellowship of the Blind (M.C.F.B). An
organized body comprising the blind who had
hitherto been disseminated throughout the
country was formed to serve the needs and
advance the cause of the blind and by their own
active participation to help in the social
welfare programs of the state.
Originally formed solely of blind persons,
M.C.F.B became a part of the evangelistic work
program of the Yangon City Church, Self
Supporting Kayin Baptist Mission Society in 1975
in order to receive due recognition and aid from
various State and Non-Governmental Organization
Accordingly, the Myanmar Council of Churches
accorded due recognition, acceptance and
encouragement to M.C.F.B. With support and
donations first granted by Christoffel
Blindenmission (C.B.M) of Germany, in 1981. Thus
M.C.F.B with dent of hard efforts was able to
acquire land, offices and buildings of its own.
In
1992, high-Level State dignitaries paid official
visits and gave recognition to M.C.F.B Due to
its development and progress M.C.F.B was
accepted as as member of the World Blind Union (W.B.
U) in 1996.
Hence, because of the continued patronage of
top-ranking State officials, regular and
generous aids and donations from Ministry of
Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Yangon
City Development Committee, C.B.M., W.B.U, and
many other well-wishers, tireless efforts of its
Central Executive Committee, prayers and
.blessing of the many Christian Churches,
M.C.F.B today, stands firm and resolute as an
organization for the Blind. |
