BRIEF HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF M.C.F.B

First Founded with (14) blind Christians on 4th; August, 1975, and was thus named the Myanmar Christian Fellowship of the Blind (M.C.F.B). An organized body comprising the blind who had hitherto been disseminated throughout the country was formed to serve the needs and advance the cause of the blind and by their own active participation to help in the social welfare programs of the state.

Originally formed solely of blind persons, M.C.F.B became a part of the evangelistic work program of the Yangon City Church, Self Supporting Kayin Baptist Mission Society in 1975 in order to receive due recognition and aid from various State and Non-Governmental Organization

Accordingly, the Myanmar Council of Churches accorded due recognition, acceptance and encouragement to M.C.F.B. With support and donations first granted by Christoffel Blindenmission (C.B.M) of Germany, in 1981. Thus M.C.F.B with dent of hard efforts was able to acquire land, offices and buildings of its own.

In 1992, high-Level State dignitaries paid official visits and gave recognition to M.C.F.B Due to its development and progress M.C.F.B was accepted as as member of the World Blind Union (W.B. U) in 1996.

Hence, because of the continued patronage of top-ranking State officials, regular and generous aids and donations from Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Yangon City Development Committee, C.B.M., W.B.U, and many other well-wishers, tireless efforts of its Central Executive Committee, prayers and .blessing of the many Christian Churches, M.C.F.B today, stands firm and resolute as an organization for the Blind.
